WBIR Highlights Robot-Assisted Surgeries Performed by KOC Surgeons

Surgeons perform about 800,000 knee replacement surgeries each year in the United States. A growing number of those surgeries (around 13 percent) are now performed with the assistance of robots, like the Mako robotic arm used by some surgeons with Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic.

WBIR reporter Lauren Davis scrubbed in to get an inside look at the technology, which KOC Dr. Michael McCollum says helps with consistent outcomes.
