I had a fall just before Thanksgiving that resulted in fractures to my patella and big toe. It threatened my family cruise to the Galápagos Islands scheduled for Christmas. There are no words to express my appreciation for Drs. Short and Holt.

First, my appointment with each physician was very timely, due to the KOC walk-in care model. Secondly, both doctors treated me as a whole person, with a firm goal in mind for timely, optimal healing; they embraced the challenge.

Thanks to a brace and orthotics that provided maximum support with ease of mobility, I not only got on the cruise ship, but also transferred to the inflatable boat twice daily for reasonable hikes and exploring around the islands.

As an 81-year-old woman, I am living proof that a life of fitness, good medical care and a strong desire to embrace life as long as I am alive allows me to achieve reasonable, or sometimes unreasonable, goals.
