Ben currently serves as the athletic trainer for South Doyle High School. He received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia University, and has practiced as a certified and licensed athletic trainer since 2010. Ben grew up in Kingsport, TN where his love of sport, a fascination with the complexities of the human body and his desire to seek a career that would enable him to help others all led him to pursue athletic training. After graduating, He was glad to return home to East TN to take on the full-time athletic training role at Fulton High School in Knoxville. Ben proudly served in this capacity from 2010 - 2021.

There are a number of aspects of working as a secondary school athletic trainer that Ben finds fulfilling. He enjoys embodying his unique sports medicine role within the various teams at South Doyle, and finds it gratifying to guide student athletes and their families throughout the injury process; from the initial injury diagnosis and treatment to the rehabilitation and ultimate return to play to the sports they love.

Outside of work, Ben appreciates spending time with his family and friends, caring for a vegetable garden, and attending live music around town. In 2018, He helped start Burwell Gardens: A Neighborhood Garden in Oakwood-Lincoln Park, the North Knoxville neighborhood where he enjoys living with his wife, Molly, and their twins. Additionally, Ben enjoys playing the Irish sport of hurling as a member of the Knoxville Gaelic Athletic Club, and currently serves as the club's Chairman.
