Dr. Amber Luhn Discusses KOC’s School Nurse Day on WATE

KOC Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. Amber Luhn recently sat down with WATE Living East Tennessee’s Amber Lynn Carroll to discuss KOC’s 15th annual School Nurse Day.
Each year, KOC hosts this one-day educational seminar to provide an opportunity for school nurses across East Tennessee to expand their knowledge and skills and connect with fellow professionals. School nurses are frontline caregivers, supporting the health and well-being of children in schools across our region.
This year’s event is the largest yet, with nearly 100 school nurses registered to attend. KOC is partnering with organizations including Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services, the McNabb Center and the optometry and ophthalmology practice of Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun to cover topics including managing concussions in student athletes, first aid for playground injuries such as eye trauma and supporting student mental health.
These sessions are designed to provide additional skill sets to help nurses care for children more effectively. KOC is proud to support and empower these healthcare professionals with the knowledge they need to succeed.
Attendees will receive a certificate for 5 hours of credit at the conclusion of the event.

Dr. Luhn enjoys helping young athletes overcome or manage their medical conditions to return to play and take their sport to the next level.
