Dr. Patrick Albright is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon specializing in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He is dedicated to helping patients restore mobility and function through personalized treatment plans focused on their goals and quality of life.
Dr. Albright’s clinical interests include cervical motion preservation, minimally invasive spine surgery, anterior and posterior cervical procedures, and lumbar fusion techniques. He treats a wide range of spinal conditions, including degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, radiculopathy, cervical myelopathy, spondylolisthesis, adult spinal deformities, and traumatic spine injuries.
Dr. Albright believes the best outcomes begin with conservative treatment whenever appropriate. He encourages patients to fully explore nonsurgical options before considering surgery, and when an operation is needed, Dr. Albright utilizes advanced techniques that preserve healthy tissue, minimize pain, and support recovery. He takes the time to listen to each patient's concerns, explain every treatment option in clear, straightforward language, and involve patients as active partners in their care.
Dr. Albright earned his Bachelor of Science degree in the Science-Business program and Master of Science degree in global health from the University of Notre Dame. He received his medical degree, with distinction in global and public health, from Western Michigan University. During medical school, he also served as an international research fellow with the University of California San Francisco Institute of Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology, coordinating orthopaedic trauma research across more than a dozen countries. Dr. Albright completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota and then received advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at Norton Leatherman Spine in Louisville, Kentucky.
An active member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Albright is also an accomplished researcher. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in leading orthopaedic journals and has presented his research at national and international conferences.
Outside the office, Dr. Albright enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young sons as they explore Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains. He also enjoys hiking, working out, traveling with his family, listening to audiobooks, and cheering on Notre Dame football.
