3 KOC Physicians Earn Spots on Newsweek’s ‘America’s Leading Doctors’ List

Three physicians from Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic (KOC) have been recognized as “America’s Leading Doctors 2025” by Newsweek.

Dr. Douglas Calhoun was the only physician in East Tennessee who qualified in his specialty of hand surgery, while Dr. Brian Holloway and Dr. Philip McDowell were two of just six Tennessee doctors named in the shoulder surgery category.

“We are proud of the expertise and technique our physicians are known for, but it’s gratifying for Newsweek to also recognize their talent,” KOC President Dr. J. Jay Crawford said. “This honor reflects their dedication and commitment to patient care. Each of these physicians is an excellent choice for anyone seeking expert hand or shoulder treatment.”

Newsweek ranked doctors from 15 medical specialties throughout the United States. The selection process involved in-depth analysis of Medicare claims data, online surveys, peer quality-of-care assessments and verification of board certifications.
