Dowell Springs/Weisgarber

Markus Pelger, DPT, treats orthopaedic conditions for patients of all ages and has a special clinical interest in and passion for sports medicine. Inspired by his own experience as a collegiate basketball player with several stints on the sideline due to injury, Markus discovered his calling to help others overcome similar obstacles and return to peak performance.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Emory & Henry College. He is certified in Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) therapy, dry needling and McKenzie Method. He also serves as clinic director for OrthoTennessee at the Dowell Springs/Weisgarber location.

Throughout his career, Markus has worked with athletes of all levels, from weekend warriors to professional athletes. His approach to rehabilitation integrates evidence-based techniques with personalized treatment plans tailored to each athlete’s unique needs and goals. Whether rehabilitating from surgery, managing chronic conditions or optimizing performance, Markus helps empower patients to achieve lasting results.

While not in the clinic, Markus enjoys staying active through weight-training, running, playing basketball and hiking. He and his wife, Katie, enjoy traveling, exploring new restaurants and supporting UT sports.
