Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic (KOC) has had a strong presence in the Knoxville community for over seventy years. As East Tennessee’s only team of fellowship-trained orthopedic specialists, KOC physicians have received advanced training in a very specific part of the body or area of orthopedics and continue to accumulate years of intensive study within this specialty. With seven distinct sub-specialties, KOC’s unique practice ensures unparalleled expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgery of musculoskeletal conditions. Many KOC physicians are nationally recognized in their respective fields and involved in educating other physicians on the newest surgical techniques.

As a dedicated and generous supporter of area athletics, KOC has developed a renowned sports medicine team. KOC physicians serve as orthopedic surgeons for the University of Tennessee Men’s and Women’s Athletic Departments and various local small colleges and organizations.

In addition to providing physician coverage for university and professional athletics, KOC values community involvement and maintains the tradition of interacting with and supporting Knoxville’s student athletes. In the 2003-2004 year, KOC made the decision to invest in a program that provides area schools with full-time athletic trainers. This outreach endeavor allows coaches and students the benefit of having a certified athletic trainer (ATC) available at the school, at practices, and on the sidelines of the games. By partnering with the schools to place these athletic trainers, KOC has become an integral part of the team and culture of each of the participating schools.

The athletic trainers in the schools work very closely with the physicians at KOC as well as the therapists at OrthoTennessee Therapy. With a rehabilitation facility located in the same building as the physicians’ offices, OrthoTennessee Therapy provides convenient, patient-friendly services for injured athletes. This convenience, paired with the established relationships and the collaborative effort among the student athlete, parents, physicians, therapists, and coaches, serves to help your child return to athletic participation as soon and as safely as possible.
