Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk without back or leg pain! I almost backed out of hip replacement surgery at the last minute because people would say, "What if you never walk again?" I got scared, but thank God I went through with it! My first worry was getting out of bed, but it was no problem. I took my last dose of pain medication at 3:45 a.m. the day after my surgery, and I had no pain after that. I did therapy three times a week for three weeks and never had any pain. Now I'm 28 days out of surgery and can do what ever I need and want to do. Thank you Dr. Botero for a great job. I'll be back for another one!
Thanks to our care at KOC, my daughters and I can do the things we love to do! Dr. Becker fixed my shoulder and knee, Jennifer's compartment syndrome, and Emily's ACL. Thanks Dr. Becker for fixing us!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk again with no limp and no pain in my hip. Dr. Botero is the most amazing doctor. I would highly recommend him for your orthopaedic needs. If I had to describe his skill level and care, I would say he is like the Tom Brady of the orthopaedic world. I was treated with nothing but respect and dignity. He is just simply the best at what he does. He does his best work every time.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can play golf again! Dr. Covino is the best. I think he can walk on water! Since my two knee replacements, I've had two holes-in-one and won the Knox Area Women's Golf Association Net Championship. Thank you Dr. Covino for my new knees!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can play soccer again! Dr. Betcher and Dr. Rappe were amazing and helped get me back on the field in 6 months. I was 9 years old when I had to have my ACL and meniscus repaired, and I just wanted to go back to being a kid again. Thank you!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can get back to an active lifestyle pain free. Dr. Rappe and his staff are great. They were very prompt in scheduling my quad/patellar tendon repair and getting me started with physical therapy so that I could return to doing the things I like to do as soon as possible. I have not had one bit of pain since. The staff at the physical therapy center was great as well and are very knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Rappe and the entire K.O.C. staff are my kind of people...faithful, professional, and have great people skills and keep a smile on their face. I totally recommend K.O.C.!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can now walk essentially pain free in my right knee. Dr Botero did such an excellent job on my right knee replacement that four months later I decided to have left knee replacement. His skills as a surgeon and his bedside manners are incredible. I traveled quite a distance for his services. I will travel again when it is time for hip replacement surgery. He takes time to explain the procedure and answer all questions. Thank you Dr. Botero.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can get around much better. Dr. Botero ordered an injection in my left hip area, I believe for bursitis. I have had horrific pain in that area for nearly a year. The nurse said it would take a week or so to really help. Well, the second day I am pain free in that area! I give praise to GOD for sending me to the right doctor. Thanks so much, Dr. Botero. My best to you and KOC.
Thanks to my knee replacement with Dr. Becker, I can now walk and play with my grandchildren and work again! 14 weeks after surgery and I feel great! Knee is a little stiff and still hurts at times, but it's so much better than before!!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk better and have gotten the pain relief I was needing. Dr. Paul Johnson is an excellent doctor who explained in great detail everything that was going to take place during surgery and what would take place after surgery. I am lucky to have had such a great doctor do my back surgery.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can do anything! It's been nearly a year since my partial knee replacement with Dr. Nadaud. For the past 7 months I have been biking up to 25 miles, hiking in the Smokies, and recently running a few miles on the treadmill.
When I was 21, a drunk driver hit my dad and I head on in an automobile accident. I had emergency surgery to fix a broken hip. It was put back together with 4 pins, but I was told that one day in the future it would probably need to be replaced. Thanks to the good Lord, I was able to use that hip for 30 more years. However, this last spring, I knew that my hip was nearing the end of its usefulness. My mobility had reached an all time low, and since I teach 5th grade, I knew I needed to have it fixed. My family doctor requested I see someone at KOC, and after finding out that Dr. Botero specializes in the anterior approach, I made an appointment to go see him. Meanwhile I studied the procedure and everything I could find about him. After meeting him for the first time, I knew he was the one I wanted to perform my surgery. He spent so much time answering my questions and explaining what he would be able to do and what he wouldn't be able to do with my hip considering the previous trauma 30 years ago. Although he does the anterior approach, he said he wouldn't consider it for my situation due to my previous posterior surgery when I was only 21. He wanted to go in the same route so as not to leave my body with yet another entry scar and trauma. I trusted him, and knew he'd make the best possible decisions while performing my posterior total right hip replacement.
My husband and I read the procedure booklet and highlighted specific information, attended the classes, and followed all the directions while preparing for my November 21st surgery. Dr. Botero had already assured me that I'd probably do very well considering my size and age. (I turned 51 four days following my surgery.)
I was ready, and finally the day arrived. I went to the hospital early, and was wheeled into surgery less than 2 hours after arriving. Once I finally awoke from the surgery, it was time to get up and walk with assistance to the chair beside my hospital bed. Amazing!
My surgery was Monday, I went home on Tuesday, and by Wednesday my whole family was amazed at how well I was doing. Thanksgiving was Thursday, and I was able to enjoy it with my family at my mom and dad's home. I attended church that Sunday, and one of my friends in Sunday school thought my surgery was coming up, but I assured him that it had already taken place 6 days ago.
I'm three weeks out now, my incision has healed, there is no pain, and I'll be heading back to school following the Christmas break.
I want to thank all the wonderful nurses for their excellent care and a big thanks to Dr. Botero for fixing me up so that I can continue enjoying an active life. You've been an answer to prayers!
