I am over 300 miles of hiking with the new hip Dr. Nadaud gave me in 2015...pretty good for a 60 year old wouldn't you say?! My quality of life continues to be all I wanted and had hoped for! I offer my gratitude and thanks to Dr. Nadaud and all the staff. I hope I can be an inspiration to others..it's NEVER too late!!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can go back to work full time and exercise again. Dr. Rappé treated me like I was his only patient. Very professional, knowledgeable and confident, but also humble. And always jolly! I once told him he was a combination of "The Big Lebowski" and "Patch Adams." I recommend him highly!
Everyone that helped my little girl was so sweet to her. Dr. Gaylord is adorable. His bedside manner with children is top notch. After he spoke to my 7 year old daughter about her broken arm, she said "I think he really loves me, mom." He made her feel like she was so special and important to him. Thanks Dr. Gaylord!
It is a tribute to Dr. Ferguson's marvelous abilities that Tylenol was the strongest medication needed for pain relief following my somewhat extensive surgery. His personality, at the very least, equals his surgical skills. I personally recommend Dr. Ferguson if you have foot problems. He is a great guy and a surgeon beyond compare!
Thanks to my care at KOC and Dr. Ferguson, I am able to walk & play golf pain free again! I have been an athlete for most of my 51 years, and been through several surgeries in my time. My Achilles surgery experience went better than I ever could imagine. Dr. Ferguson is an asset to KOC & I would highly recommend his services to anyone in need of a foot/ankle surgeon. He was very direct & to the point in every aspect of my surgery & recovery. Follow up appointments were pleasant & informative, plus I never waited long to see him. Following his direction, my recovery went much better and faster than I had expected. Thank you!
I needed extensive foot surgery, so after interviewing four different doctors and interviewing Dr. Testerman again one year later, I decided she was the surgeon for me. She is kind, concerned & experienced. She and her staff understand how to address one's fears, as well as being courteous. Her work was precise, clean and so well cut that I knew as it healed the scarring would be minimal. As my office follow-up visits continue, Dr. Testerman remains caring and always a hands-on doctor. I did exactly as I was told and we are both delighted with my healing. I would highly recommend her and I know if you do as she says, you'll have as amazing results as I have.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can hike again! I received my new knees six and eight years ago. Dr. McGraw performed these surgeries for me. In three years I hiked over a thousand miles on them in the Smokies. Then I needed hip replacement and Dr. Nadaud was my doctor for this surgery. I got my new hip on January 9th of this year. Three weeks later I was walking around Elkmont and now I am doing 3 and 4 mile hikes. Thank you so much KOC!!!!!
What do you do 6 weeks after hip replacement? I zip lined! I saw Dr. Herman Botero with KOC today. He said the X-rays looked great and said the "Funky Monkey & Superman " on the zip line looked good too!
After I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, we visited several surgeons. It was determined that I had no choice but get the spinal surgery. After intensive research, we came across Dr. Paul Johnson of KOC. From the time we visited his office until today, no one has made us as comfortable as Dr. Johnson. He kept my family informed during the surgical procedure & made a call afterwards to inform them that all had gone well. During the postoperative visits, his staff at KOC & Dr. Johnson have maintained a very in-depth review of my recovery. I will recommend Dr. Johnson to anybody who has any type of back or neck problems.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk, sleep, and live life without hip pain. First off, Dr. Botero, THANK YOU!! From my first consultation through the entire surgery and follow up process, this gentleman has been nothing less than outstanding! Communication about my condition and the surgery was great. Dr. Botero was very thorough with me. He completed a total left hip replacement on me. I know it may not be the norm, but I was back at work in just over a week and walking without any assistance from a cane or walker in just a couple of days. I have to have my right hip done in the near future. Without one hesitation I will have Dr. Botero do this surgery as well. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering joint replacement surgery.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk with no pain in my knee. Sometimes, the best treatment a doctor can give you is to deny your request.
I saw Dr. Mathien for the first time on April 7, 2016. After looking at my x-rays, he told me that my arthritic knees would probably need to be replaced at some point. Here's the catch - at 58 years old, I weighed 305 pounds (a BMI of 41) and I had all the co-morbid conditions that go with that - high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, type 2 diabetes, etc. He told me that I was not a good candidate for surgery. I had "backed myself into a corner," he said, and my best course of action was to have bariatric surgery.
I left the office mad and in a foul mood. I wasn't mad at Dr. Mathien (well, maybe a little). I was mad, humiliated, and embarrassed that I had let myself get into such bad shape. After stewing for a few hours, I made up my mind to take care of my situation. I did not have bariatric surgery because my insurance would not cover the procedure. I did, however, work with my family doctor, and over the next 174 days I lost 110 pounds. Along with that, my blood pressure, lipids, and average blood glucose levels all returned to normal levels. On November 8, 2016, I weighed 188 pounds (a total loss of 117 pounds), which made my BMI 24.9, i.e., normal.
I returned to see Dr. Mathien in October of 2016. He informed me that I had earned the right to take the next step. I took that next step when, on November 8, 2016, Dr. Mathien performed total knee replacement surgery on my right knee. Now, 14 weeks after surgery, I am back to a high level of activity, but with no pain in my knee.
I thank God for putting Dr. Mathien in my life at that time. I'm thankful that he cared enough to talk straight with me and tell me what I needed to hear. He didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but somehow hearing it out loud made it real and made me give it the attention it deserved.
I'm also thankful for the skill and expertise he used when he performed my surgery. The operation was a total success, and for the first time in about 30 years, I'm pain free in my right knee.
I recommend Dr. Mathien without qualification. He is the best. Period.
I am just three and a half weeks out from hip replacement surgery and I am able to run the stairs and start back to abbreviated P90X workouts. I am 55 and the cartilage in my hip wore out from a genetic condition where the shape of my hip bone didn't match the shape of the cup it fit into. I decided not to wait for years until I was crippled. In the last year, I had already given up racquetball and volleyball. I was faithful to follow the doctor's instructions at home and to do my physical therapy exercises each day. They were very painful at first. But each day I saw progress. By week three I could climb the stairs without pain. I continued some pain medication to help me sleep, but now I am completely off everything except the anti-inflammatory prescription which I will take until week six. My biggest concern at my post-op visit with Dr. Botero is that I can't get back into the hot tub until week six. Bummer. But everything else is coming up roses. There certainly was some pain involved, but I don't see how it could have gone better.
