Hand Surgery Specialist

Dr. Robert Ivy was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in 1983.  He was awarded the prestigious Justin Potter Academic Scholarship to Vanderbilt Medical School and received his medical degree from Vanderbilt in 1988. Dr. Ivy was elected to the Alpha Omicron Alpha medical honor society.

Dr. Ivy began his post-graduate education with a one year general surgical internship at Vanderbilt. He continued his education with four residency program in orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Ivy completed his training with a one year fellowship in hand and micro-vascular surgery at the nationally renowned Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Ivy joined Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic in 1994. He sub-specializes in the treatment of hand and elbow disorders. Dr. Ivy has been selected by his peers to the “Best Doctors in America.” In addition, he was voted by Cityview Magazine to the top doctors in Knoxville for 2003. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has obtained the Certificate for Added Qualification for Surgery of the Hand.  Dr. Ivy is a member of multiple medical societies including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Ivy has been married to his wife, Carney, for fifteen years, and they have three children. They are very active in their church and children’s activities. He enjoys hiking and cycling in his spare time.
