Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic (KOC), a division of OrthoTennessee, is pleased to announce that Humana Medicare patients are now eligible for outpatient hip and knee replacements at Knoxville Orthopaedic Surgery Center (KOSC). Traditionally, Medicare has required a hospital stay for these procedures. This is the first agreement of its kind for Humana in Tennessee.
"Humana is excited to partner with KOSC in this opportunity to improve the orthopaedic health and well-being of our East Tennessee members in a state-of-the-art, high-quality, and patient-friendly facility," said Douglas Haaland, Mid-South regional president for Humana.
KOSC started offering outpatient total joint replacements earlier this year. Michael Sims was one of the first patients to take advantage of the new service.
“I was walking with help just a few hours after my surgery,” Sims said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”
The goal at KOSC is always the fastest possible recovery with the least amount of pain.
“For otherwise healthy people who are interested in an outpatient experience, our surgery center offers an amazing opportunity to have a joint replaced yet avoid a hospital stay,” explained Dr. Herman Botero, one of KOC's joint replacement specialists. “It’s cost effective and the care is very personalized.”
KOSC is conveniently located in West Knoxville near I-40 and Pellissippi Parkway with plenty of free, by-the-door parking. To learn more about joint replacement at KOSC, make an appointment by calling (865) 558-4444 or start the process by using our appointment app.
