Letter: Hospital provided excellent care twice
August 8, 2015
Several weeks ago, I had total hip replacement surgery at Physicians Regional Medical Center. Everything about my stay was superior, from the smiling lady at the front desk who checked me in at 5 a.m., to the sweet nun in pre-surgery who asked if she could pray for me, to every member of Dr. Matthew Nadaud's joint replacement team — the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, the physician assistants, the nurses, the patient care technicians and the physical therapists. Without exception, everyone was positive, agreeable, capable, competent, smiling and reassuring.
I didn't catch every name, but the ones I do remember are Jason Varney and Jennifer Ridden (Nadaud's nurse practitioners) Vera, Scottie, Larry, Houston, Courtney, Dr. Gentry, Delores, Mary, Sue, David, Matt and Rett, who wiped my tears, hugged me and escorted me to my car when I was discharged.
In an ironic twist, I fractured the same hip again while at home and had to return to the hospital for a second complete replacement surgery July 27. This had nothing to do with inferior surgery or lack of instructions from the surgery team. I stayed two nights this time on the third floor of the tower and received the same excellent care. I couldn't be more satisfied.
