Dr. Benson A. Scott will join Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic in August, where he will specialize in primary care sports medicine. He recently completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the American Sports Institute/Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Birmingham. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis and completed a residency in Family Practice at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

Dr. Scott was team physician for the University of West Alabama in 2007-2008, was the covering physician for the 2007 SEC Women’s Soccer Tournament, and served as resident team physician for the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Central High School football in Chattanooga, and The McCallie School, also in Chattanooga. In addition, he was a member of the host medical staff at the NCAA I-AA football national championship in 2006-2008, and the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball National Tournament for the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games in 2005. He also has participated in a medical mission trip to Peru and a sports mission trip to Mexico.

Dr. Scott and his wife Toni, both Knoxville natives and graduates of the University of Tennessee, are happy to return to Knoxville with their two children. When he isn’t involved in local high school sporting events, Dr. Scott enjoys playing golf, snow skiing, hunting and fishing.
