Physicians Assistants
Steve Bean, PA
A native Knoxvillian, Steve has been with Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic since 1977. He completed the Orthopedic Physician Assistant Program at Chattanooga State with Highest Honors. He has served as President of the American Society of Orthopedic Physician Assistants, and served on the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Physician Assistants. He has served as an appointee to the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners Committee on Physician Assistants. He routinely evaluates and treats injuries to the extremities and provides continuing care for arthritis patients. He is based primarily at our Weisgarber Road location.
Tammy Hall, MPH, OPA-C
Tammy began her career as an orthopedic physician assistant 23 years ago at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic. She came to KOC after completing her bachelor’s degree in Supervision and Training, her master’s degree in Public Health Administration, both from the University of Tennessee and her Orthopedic Physician Assistant degree from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tammy serves at the secretary and treasurer for the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Physicians Assistants and is a member of the American Society for Orthopedic Physician Assistants.
Tammy is married and has two daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys mountain climbing, hiking and gardening.
Donald McConnell, O.P.A.
Don has worked in healthcare for 34 years and joined Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic in 1995. He is a graduate of the Blount Memorial Radiologic Technologist Program and he completed the orthopedic physician assistant program at Erlanger Medical Center, where he received the Highest Honors award. Don serves as the supervisor for the team of physician assistants at KOC. He is a member of the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Society of Orthopedic Physician Assistants.
Don resides in Blount County with his wife Linda and son Charlie. He maintains a sixth generation farm, and in his free time enjoys the outdoors, music and bagpiping.
Benjamin Hux, O.P.A.-C, RN
Ben has been a certified orthopedic physician assistant for 19 years and a registered nurse for 32 years. As a registered nurse, he gained extensive experience and training in emergency medicine and in surgery. It was in surgery that he realized orthopedics was his niche in medicine. Ben completed his preceptorship with Five Rivers Orthopedic Associates and has been with KOC since 1996. He most enjoys providing a broad range of comprehensive orthopedic services, patient interaction, and teaching the patient about their condition or injury. Ben is Board Certified and a member of the Tennessee Association of Orthopedic Physician Assistants, Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants, and of the American Society of Orthopedic Physician Assistants.
He and his wife enjoy caring for their two dogs and horses. In his spare time, Ben enjoys canoeing, horseback riding, and antiquing.
Bobbie Williams, O.P.A.-C
For more than 40 years, Bobbie has worked as an orthopaedic physician assistant. His desire to work in the medical field as a provider of health care for patients with orthopaedic problems originated with his own sports background. In addition to being Board Certified, he has served as the President of the Tennessee Society of Orthopedic Physician Assistants and as an officer in the national OPA organization. Bobbie predominantly sees patients at the KOC north office where he provides injections for the physicians, patientsÂ’ history and physicals and fracture reduction, he also routinely evaluates new patients.
When Bobbie is not working at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic, he is volunteering at Good Samaritan Clinic in Maryville and Interfaith Clinic in Knoxville. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, playing chess and spending time with his family and dogs.
Robert Rowe, OPA
Bo most enjoys the smile on patientsÂ’ faces when he is able to help them with their condition or injury. He attended East Tennessee State University and worked in orthopaedic care for 31 years in Greeneville, Tennessee. Bo has been with Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic since 2005. He enjoys being a direct extension of the physician providing patients with a wide range of services.
Bo lives with his wife, pediatric physical therapist, in Greeneville. They have two grown sons, one an architect and the other a biologist. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, fishing and working in his wood shop.
Dorothy Allen, PA-C
Dorothy first came to Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic as a student in 2004. That experience led her to pursue her career as a physician’s assistant. After receiving her Masters of Physician Studies from Eastern Virginia Medical School, she decided to come back home to East Tennessee to practice. Dorothy joined KOC in October of 2008. Since that time she has worked in the clinic setting taking care of patients and helping them get back to their full potential. Dorothy is a current member of the American Association of Physician Assistants.
Linda Clark, FNP
Bringing 25 years of experience in emergency medicine and trauma, Linda joined Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic in 2008. She received her masters in nursing from the University of Tennessee and is a certified family nurse practitioner, certified critical care nurse, certified flight nurse and an EMT. Linda most enjoys being able to interact with a wide variety of people of all ages with orthopaedic problems. She is a member of the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Linda is married with two grown daughters and one granddaughter. She currently lives in Maryville, and in her spare time she enjoys cooking, gardening and travel.
